Advocate

Every Iowan has the opportunity to influence Iowa’s laws by advocating on behalf of children, in order to keep them safe. Citizens can contact their local legislators and urge them to vote in favor of bills that support children and families. If you’re not sure who to contact, you can locate local legislators on the Iowa Legislature website.

Prevent Child Abuse Iowa closely monitors the issues discussed at the state level during the legislative session. Proposed bills have the ability to positively or negatively affect Iowa's children. However, the organizations effectiveness largely depends on a broad network of advocates who contact their legislators on behalf of children.

To help advance statewide advocacy efforts, Prevent Child Abuse Iowa distributes information on legislative developments through an electronic newsletter, The Prevention Advocate. Anyone interested in receiving the newsletter or joining Prevent Child Abuse Iowa in its advocacy work may contact the Executive Director, Stephen Scott.
