Prevent Child Abuse Iowa Chosen to Manage Federal CBCAP Grant

On September 10, the Iowa Department of Human Services announced that Prevent Child Abuse Iowa was chosen to manage Iowa’s Community Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) program. DHS redesigned this program to be implemented through Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC) shared decision-making teams. The following provides a general outline of what this program entails and what this will mean for CPPC sites.

CBCAP was developed in 1985 as part of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act. It is designed to support networks of coordinated resources and activities to strengthen and support families to reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect.

PCA Iowa will work with the CPPC Executive Committee, DHS and local CPPC representatives to plan for the implementation of this program.

If you have any questions please contact Christy Thies ( ; 1-800-CHILDREN; 515-244-2200).
